Pastor reflects on 25 years' service

MAKING church fun has kept Pastor Stephen Jaensch busy for the past 25 years.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of Pastor Stephen being ordained as a minister within the Lutheran Church.

"It's gone that quickly but time goes fast when you're having fun and that's what church should be - fun," he said.

"We use a lot of laughter, church is meant to be exciting and fulfilling."

Pastor Stephen said he has thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work in rural communities. And his work has been fulfilling in more ways than one as he met his wife, Robin, in church and they have been married for 20 years.

The Jaenschs have been a part of the Emerald community for the past year.

"We love the community and have found everyone helpful… the people are very friendly," he said.

The Jaenschs got to witness Emerald's community spirit first-hand after their manse had eight inches of water through it during the floods.

"We lost stuff but it wasn't an issue... we functioned as best we could to help," he said.

"It was easier to understand where people were at as we ourselves were going through it too."
