Police were called to an alleged altercation on Petrie Street around 10.30am, and on arrival a man was discovered with serious back injuries after he was struck by a vehicle.

A 36-year-old Leichardt woman has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.

11AM: A MAN has been seriously injured after being run down by a car in a violent street disturbance at Leichhardt.

Police said an ongoing dispute was the likely cause of an argument between three men on Petrie St, about 10.30am on Friday.

A woman allegedly used a silver Holden Commodore to mow the three men down in front of a house.

Although all three received injuries, police said one of the men was severely injured and had to be taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The other two men received non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle involved came to rest against a house on Petrie St, but there was minimal damage to property.

Police closed the street off on Friday as investigations began.

Several people were assisting with enquiries.

The Forensic Crash Unit and Brisbane detectives are investigating.
