Man feared dead in creek

A MAN is missing and feared drowned after the car he was travelling in was swept from a flooded causeway in the state’s central west about 11.30pm yesterday.

It is understood that the vehicle was carrying three men when it was swept off the road between Muttaburra and Aramac into the Cornish Creek.

Two of the men, aged 19 and 40, escaped but the third man, thought to be aged around 60, has not been located.

Police attended the area and confirmed that where the vehicle disappeared in the creek is under about 4.7m of floodwaters.

Conditions remain too dangerous to confirm its exact location or attempt retrieval at this stage

Both men who escaped were taken to hospital suffering shock.
