Perth "tip" bought on Gumtree transformed on House Rules

PERTH homeowners Carole and Russell served up a challenging renovation on House Rules.

Their house, which was bought on Gumtree under the label "renovate or detonate", was transformed by five couples battling stifling heat and a steep driveway.

Last night's final house reveal saw a shake-up of the leader board, with Queensland couple Maddi and Lloyd earning the top score and Tassie couple Brooke and Grant coming in last.

Carole and Russell and the judges were all impressed with Maddi and Lloyd's luxurious en suite and walk-in robe.

After causing a gas leak, refusing to help carry supplies or compromise on boundaries, other teams were gifted their revenge when Brooke and Grant received just four points each from the judges for their kitchen/pantry.

Homeowners Carole and Russell weren't as critical, describing their pre-renovation home as a "tip" and "death trap".

"My life has changed," Carole said.

"I have something now - something to share with everyone."

Final scores:

Maddi and Lloyd (Qld) - 24

Adam and Lisa (VIC) - 20

Bomber and Mel (SA) - 19

Candy and Ryan (NSW) - 17

Brooke and Grant (TAS) - 15
