Philip Hughes' spirit lives on: India all out for 408

THE spirit of Phillip Hughes lives on - India has been dismissed for 408 in its first innings on day two at the Gabba before the lunch interval.

The late 25-year-old was the 408th player to represent Australia in Test cricket, and 408 was the big number printed in the Adelaide Oval outfield in his memory in the first Test last week.

India was 4-311 overnight and it would have been disappointed with its morning-session collapse of 6-97.

Debutant Josh Hazlewood did most of the damage, taking three of those scalps to finish with the impressive figures of 5-68.

Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma were not-out overnight on 75 and 26 respectively, but Hazlewood had Rahane caught behind for 81, and Shane Watson had Sharma caught in the slips by captain Steve Smith for 32.

Smith's effort was a screamer, diving away to his right.

MS Dhoni scored a neat cameo of 33 from 53 balls and Ravi Ashwin 35 off 42, before Hazlewood dismissed them both.

Tail-ender Varun Aaron fell for four to another classic catch at short-leg from substitute fielder Marnus Labuschagne, showing great athleticism to leap forward and snare an edge witht his right hand.
