PICS: Heritage Bank golf event raises $75k for charities

THE popular Heritage Charity Golf Day has raised more than $75,000 for nearly a dozen local charities this year.

Nearly 200 competitors braved the heat yesterday to play the charity competition at the City Golf Club.

The latest chapter in the event's 22-year history means the concept has now raised more than $880,000 for 100 different charities and community organisations.

Heritage Bank CEO Peter Lock said the funds raised would be a big help for the 11 groups being supported this year.

"Supporting our people and communities is the core of Heritage," he said.

"It's something that we are very passionate about and that translates through to the Heritage Charity Golf Day.

"The funds raised go towards helping a huge number of community organisations continue doing their fantastic work to help people in need.

"Through the golf day, we're delighted to bring the business community together for a great cause and for the benefit of all.

"We're always amazed to see the camaraderie and goodwill from everyone involved in making the golf day a success year after year."

The organisations supported this year included Autism Queensland, Blush Cancer Care, Hope Horizon, Ipswich Hospice, OzHarvest, Safe Haven Community, St John Ambulance Queensland, The Sunlight Centre, Toowoomba Table Tennis Association, Toowoomba Women's Shed and the PCYC.
