Pirates' quicks see score reach 50

PEAK Downs Pirates piled on the points in Clermont at the weekend, running out 52-22 victors over Emerald Cowboys.

The Cowboys made the most of their 12-man playing contingent, throwing up some weathered opposition in defence. But it was a tough ask against a speedy Pirates line-up, with four Tieri players scoring twice by the scorebook and Tieri’s Nathan Sandilands kicking a whopping eight conversions.

Cowboys’ president Damon Walsh said it was a gutsy effort given the circumstances.

“We couldn’t ask for more from the 12 guys we had,” he said.

“Tieri were fast and we defended the best we had all year – showed plenty of promise with the ball.

“Andrew Davey had his best game of the season and Todd Williams and Alistar Gall tackled everything.”

A Cowboys player taken away by ambulance with a suspected neck injury is said to be now feeling “much better”.
