A 60-YEAR-OLD man is dead after a plane crash near the Kybong airfield.
The aircraft, believed to be a light plane came down on Lagoon Pocket Road just before 4pm.
Emergency services were enroute to the crash site.
There were reports the plane was a three-quarter replica spitfire aircraft.
A Lagoon Pocket Roadresident told the Daily a stream of emergency services tore down her street just after 4pm with lights and sirens “all ablazing”.
“There was three ambulances, two fire trucks, a highway patrol car, a motor-cycle police officer and the southside rural fire brigade,” she said.
“At first I thought there was a farm accident, but when I saw all the fire trucks I thought ‘who’s house is on fire?”
The seven-year resident said there were a number of wealthy residents in the area who owned light planes.
“This is a very tight community, it will certainly be a huge shock if it is one of our local residents.”
