PolAir2 and stingers deployed to stop alleged drug driver

POLICE arrested a man allegedly driving under the influence of an illicit substance after evading police last night.

Just after 11pm, officers from the Mount Ommaney Road Policing Unit observed a vehicle heading west on the Ipswich Motorway allegedly performing burnouts and driving in a dangerous manner.

The crew attempted to intercept the vehicle, but it allegedly drove off.

With the assistance of PolAir 2, the vehicle was tracked on the motorway which eventually got caught in heavy traffic.

The vehicle was stopped after police deployed stingers on Redbank Road at Blacksoil.

A 21-year-old Crestmead man allegedly returned a positive reading for the offence of drug driving and has had his car impounded.

He has been issued with a 24-hour driver's license suspension notice and a notice to appear in court for a range of serious driving offences.

Investigations are continuing.
