Man assaulted in violent road rage incident

TOOWOOMBA police are investigating a road rage complaint in which a man claimed he was assaulted by another motorist.

Shift supervisor Sergeant Vern Holcombe said officers were first notified of the incident by a phone call about 8.45pm on Wednesday.

He said the incident was reported at the intersection of West and Herries Sts but may have continued as far as Alderley St.

A man attended Toowoomba Police Station after the incident claiming he had been assaulted.

"Investigations are continuing into an incident in Kearneys Spring," Sgt Holcombe said.

"We are trying to get to the bottom of it."

The investigation comes after a bizarre road rage incident on the M1 Motorway near Brisbane's CBD on Saturday.

A man reportedly crashed into up to seven cars before fleeing his burning vehicle naked.

State media attention has also focused on another incident in which a motorist jumped out of his car to smash a hole in the windscreen of another driver in South Brisbane.

Anyone who may have witnessed Wednesday night's incident can call Toowoomba police on 4631 6000.
