Police believe shot woman knew attacker

QUEENSLAND police believe a woman who was shot in the chest during an early morning shooting in Brisbane may have known her attacker.

Emergency services were alerted to the shooting this morning just after 6am.

The woman, 38, was visiting a friend when she was shot on the footpath outside a house on Campbell Terrace in Wavell Heights.

The injured woman managed to walk back inside the house to raise the alarm.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition where she underwent emergency surgery.

Police believe the woman, her friend and the shooter are acquaintances, connected through their spouses and associates.

Investigations into the shooting are continuing.
