Man charged after Wandal siege

UPDATE SUNDAY 9.30PM: A MAN has been charged following an incident which saw police invoke an emergent situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act  in Wandal yesterday.

Police were called to a residence on Pershing Street and will allege that a man was being threatened inside by another man.

The PSPA was declared around 3.30pm and was revoked around 5pm when a man was taken into custody without incident.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

A 25-year-old New South Wales man has been charged with one count each of threatening violence and entering a dwelling with intent.

He is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 12. 

 

BREAKING 5.30PM: IT IS understood parts of Wandal were in lockdown as emergency services this afternoon converged on the scene.

Police blocked off a number of streets in the Rockhampton suburb.

An eyewitness told The Morning Bulletin a police negotiator was at the scene on Pershing St.
