"Dangerous" BMW driver found at Brisbane Airport

Update: July 18, 8.20am

The driver of a BMW caught doing 145km/h in Tweed was found an hour later at Brisbane Airport.

A QLD Police spokesman has confirmed police caught up with the driver of a silver BMW at Brisbane Airport about 5pm Thursday - just an hour after it was seen in Tweed Heads.

The spokesman said police were looking into the "dangerous operation" of a motor vehicle which was seen speeding northbound on the Pacific Highway.

He said police are speaking with the male driver, who's been helping them with their investigations.

He couldn't confirm whether the car, which had no number plates, may have been stolen.

Tweed Byron LAC Inspector Gary Cowan said police were made aware of the vehicle - caught travelling about 145km/h - when it tail gated a highway patrol car on the Pacific Hwy near Tweed Heads South.

Highway patrol pursued the vehicle for a short time, but did not follow the luxury car into Queensland.

Queensland Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
