Wanted man escapes as 'convoy' of police commence chase

UPDATE:

A WANTED person escaped police yesterday after a chase through busy Sunshine Coast roads.

A member of the public reported seeing a "convoy" of police cars rush past her on Maroochydore Rd about 5.30pm.

Sunshine Coast police district officer Superintendent Darryl Johnson said a number of police were involved in the search for a man who was of interest to police.

Police were unable to find the man.

"We thank the public for their understanding when driving on the roads in the vicinity of where the mans vehicle was being driven yesterday," Spt Johnson said.

"Unfortunately, the type of behaviour by offenders in driving vehicles dangerously on our roads is one we are facing commonly."

Supt Johnson said investigations were continuing to determine the man's whereabouts.
