Police dog bites woman during arrest on highway

POLICE have charged two people following an incident at Blacksoil overnight.

It will be alleged at about 12.30am police indicated for a car travelling outbound on the Warrego Highway at Brassall to stop.

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop and continued travelling outbound crossing to the incorrect side of the road for approximately 1.8km before exiting the highway onto Bramers Rd where the vehicle was abandoned.

A police dog tracked two people through thick bushland to a nearby paddock where they were arrested.

A  Bundamba, 27, man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to stop a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, driving under the influence of a drug, possession of a category R weapon, obstruct police, possess dangerous drug, possess utensil and fail to dispose of a syringe.

He is due to appear at the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.

A  Redbank plains woman, 20, was charged with obstructing police and possession of a utensil. She is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on February 23.

The woman sustained a dog bite during the arrest and was transported to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.
