UPDATE, 2PM:

POLICE are still on the hunt for the driver of a white Toyota Landcruiser who crashed into a marked police car on the Capricorn Hwy, near Comet, yesterday afternoon.

Police intercepted the vehicle about 3.10pm and spoke to the male driver and sole occupant.

The man, believed to be from Emerald, became agitated and drove up the highway for a short distance before turning around and travelling towards the police car again.

The four-wheel-drive then collided head-on with the stationary police vehicle, while a 34-year-old male constable was still inside.

The police officer was not injured, but was taken to the Blackwater Hospital for a check-up.

The four-wheel-drive drove away from the scene and was last sighted near Woorabinda, about 9.40pm, last night where the driver failed to stop for police.

Police are continuing to search for the vehicle which is bearing Queensland registration 091 LBN.

If anyone spots the vehicle they are urged not to approach it, but contact Police Link on 131 444 or local police.
