Police keen to catch extinguisher thieves

THERE was not a flame in sight but that didn’t stop fire extinguishers being let off in Emerald the past two weekends.

Police received a report early Friday, August 5, that a green Holden utility parked at Industrial Dr was sprayed with the contents of an extinguisher found on the footpath nearby.

The second incident involving a fire extinguisher took place on Saturday, August 6, at 3.20am.

Police received information that three males had been located with a fire extinguisher which had been stolen from a white Isuzu truck parked on Clermont St. Police located the men and a 19-year-old was subsequently charged with stealing and issued with a notice to appear.

On Saturday night, police were called to the Thrifty Car Rental car park on Clermont St after two fire extinguishers were stolen and discharged on a Toyota Hilux.
