Search for driver who fled scene

POLICE are calling for witnesses to assist them in identifying a vehicle allegedly involved in a traffic crash on the Gregory Hwy about 6.30am on Wednesday.

Police allege a southbound silver Camry veered onto the wrong side of the road, causing an approaching vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, to swerve and crash into a tree. It's alleged the driver of the Camry failed to stop.

The driver of the vehicle which crashed was taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or can assist in police investigations is asked to call Emerald police on 4983 8100 or Crimestoppers 1800 333 000.
