Major hospital in lockdown

A major hospital near NSW's Blue Mountains is in lockdown due to a police operation.

Nepean Hospital - including the emergency department - has been temporarily closed, the local health district said on Wednesday morning.

"Ambulances are being diverted to other nearby hospitals. Patients, visitors and staff are being relocated from the ED. Please delay your trip to Nepean Hospital," it posted on Twitter.
