Police to probe why fatal crash victim not found for hours

A MAN found dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon may have lay there injured for hours, according to police.

The body of the Leyburn man, 49, was found by a passing motorist on the Toowoomba-Karara Rd about 2pm Monday but police investigators are yet to determine what time the man crashed his motorbike.

It is possible the crash could have happened overnight Sunday and police have appealed for anyone who may have seen the wreckage before it was reported Monday afternoon to come forward.

The passer-by who made the grim discovery was treated for shock and taken to hospital.

Investigators are yet to determine the cause of the crash on a sweeping bend of the road south-west of Toowoomba.
