Police in new video appeal to solve human torso case
POLICE are trying new avenues to solve a grim murder at Cedar Pocket last year.
A human torso was found at Cedar Pocket Rd on September 19, 2013 and police have been appealing to the public for information on the crime ever since.
Today, police have released a short video, appealing for information from the public.
Over the last two days, members of the QPS Dive Squad searched the Cedar Pocket Dam spillway.
Investigators with the assistance of SES personnel also conducted a ground search in the surrounding area.
Detectives from the Homicide Group and Gympie CIB have produced the film containing a digital interpretation of markings located on the body, crime scene shots and other details relevant to the case.
Recently police issued details regarding a small orange, gold or bronze coloured hatchback seen in the area prior to the location of the deceased at 6.27pm.
A woman aged between 30-50 with shoulder length hair was also observed near the vehicle at the time.
Detective Inspector Bruce McNab said police believed someone out there has information that will help to solve the case.
"We have investigated a number of leads, but need the public's assistance. Someone knows more details about what happened to this man," he said.
"The video has been produced by the investigators working on the case and is certainly a new approach for us, but one we believe will generate some interest and are hopeful it will result in the information we need."
