Widespread search fails to locate escaped prisoner

UPDATE: A widespread search, doorknocks and an appeal on social media have failed to locate a man who escaped from police custody while receiving medical treatment at a south-west Queensland hospital.

Christopher James Beck was in police custody in relation to a number of drug offences when he escaped from the Roma Hospital  yesterday.

He had been transported from the Roma Watchhouse.

A police spokesman said homes across Roma had been doorknocked during an extensive search, but police had failed to locate Beck.

"The details are also pretty widespread on social media, so we're hoping that helps (in locating Beck)," he said.

The 27-year-old is described as Caucasian, 185cm tall with a slim build, brown hair and brown eyes. 

He was last seen wearing shorts, a brown prison shirt with an orange singlet underneath (as pictured). 

He may be travelling with a woman in a white 2002 Nissan Elgrand wagon with Queensland registration 582RZO.
