NEIGHBOURS of Rockville man Ian Hannaford say the 58-year-old returned to his Gala Ct home at the weekend as police investigated the disappearance of his 55-year-old friend Gail Lynch.

Witnesses said Mr Hannaford arrived at his home on Sunday.

Regional crime co-ordinator for southern region Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow said no police met with Mr Hannaford at the weekend.

"Police have had no reason to be back in contact with him," Det Insp Shadlow said.

Mr Hannaford's blue 2004 BA model Ford Falcon has been the subject of intensive forensic investigation since it was seized last Wednesday. His house was also searched and he was detained for an interview before being released without charge.

Det Insp Shadlow said police were using sonar equipment in underwater searches for Mrs Lynch in the Condamine River at Warwick. Police on Sunday also looked in roadside drains and culverts within a 15km radius of Warwick as part of the search.

Mrs Lynch has not been heard from since receiving a telephone call from her sister at her Guy St unit, in Warwick, on July 3.

Anyone who was in the Guy St area of Warwick between 6pm on July 3 and 6am on July 4 is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
