Police taser man with knife outside Parliament House

POLICE in Canberra have arrested a man who was observed to be armed with a knife outside Parliament House this afternoon.   

At around 12:30 pm, ACT Police and AFP Protection Services Officers began a de-escalation negotiation with the man.  

During the de-escalation negotiation process, the man was tasered as he failed to relinquish the knife. The man has been taken into custody.   

There are no national security concerns regarding this incident.
