Body believed to be missing tourist found on Mount Coolum

LATEST: A BODY believed to be that of missing American tourist Gregory Osborn was found on Mount Coolum about 8.15am on Sunday. 

The 66-year-old man went missing on Thursday after leaving his hotel on David Low Way to go for a walk. 

Police and SES volunteers made a large-scale search for him throughout the weekend after a call to Crime Stoppers showed he had last been seen at the top of Mount Coolum. 

Queensland Police said the death was believed to be non-suspicious. 

 

EARLIER: POLICE will resume the ground search for missing American man Gregory Neal Osborn on Sunday morning, this time concentrating on Mount Coolum.

A phone call to Crime Stoppers revealed Mr Osborn was seen at the top of Mount Coolum on Thursday around 10am, two hours after he left a hotel on David Low Way to go for a walk.

"Police and around 30 SES personnel searched the Mount Coolum area today with the assistance of helicopter support from the air," Queensland Police said in a statement.

"A helicopter with thermal imaging will conduct additional searches tonight."

Mr Osborn, 66, was last seen wearing a green hooded jacket, grey ¾ sweat pants, croc shoes and carrying a bag.
