Policeman filmed asleep on the job
A BRISBANE police officer has been caught allegedly sleeping on the job while manning an undercover speed radar in the city's north.
Video of the man has emerged online, showing him allegedly dozing in the drivers' seat of the unmarked car Narangba Rd at Kallangur Tuesday morning.
A member of the public approached the vehicle, which he says had the engine still running and the speed gun sitting on the dashboard.
VIDEO: LANGUAGE WARNING
He knocked on the window, seeming to startle the sleeping officer.
Cameron Holland, 25, said he had driven past the same man asleep 20 minutes earlier and decided to intervene when he saw the officer was still there.
"There's a spot where an unmarked police officer normally sits and he's sitting here right now," Mr Holland says in the video, "there he is, passed out asleep in his car … this is what we pay taxes for."
In the video the sheepish police officer admitted he had "just dropped off" when Mr Holland suggested he had been sleeping on the job.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) said it was aware of the video and has since made contact with the officer in the footage.
"The health and wellbeing of our officers is paramount and the Service has a fatigue management policy in place to ensure the risks arising from fatigue are identified and appropriate controls are implemented," QPS said in a statement.
