Ponting calls for Dunk to play against Sri Lanka
CRICKET: Effectively dumped by the Hobart Hurricanes in the off-season, Ben Dunk could yet find himself in the Australian T20 line-up if Ricky Ponting has his way.
Traded to the Adelaide Strikers for seamer Hamish Kingston, Dunk blasted a Big Bash League-high 364 runs this season at a strike rate of 163.96, including three half-centuries.
Ponting, who has taken up a position as the Aussies' T20 assistant coach, told bigbash.com.au: "To be honest, I actually think he's in too good form to ignore.
"And well done to him - it was a big move to leave the Hurricanes and move to a different franchise and play the way he has.
"I'd be surprised if he wasn't included in the squad.”
Australia will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match series starting on February 17.
Dunk played his only three T20Is against South Africa in November 2014.
