Range Rover Evoque recalled over suspension flaw
LAND Rover and Range Rover cars are facing a recall over a suspension issue which could lead to drivers losing control of their vehicle.
The suspension flaw could see the vehicles run off the road.
"If the vehicle is exposed to a shock impact such as a deep pothole or kerb strike to the affected front wheel the front suspension may fail," a product recall issued by the ACCC read.
"If the front suspension fails, the affected front wheel will separate from its lower joint and create vehicle instability. This can lead to a loss of vehicle control."
The car models impacted are the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport (2016 and 2017 model years only). It's understood about 5% of the cars sold have the issue described by the recall.
The manufacturer has contacted those with affected vehicles via mail.
The news comes as the ACCC reissues a recall on more than 20,000 Subarus over an issue with air-pumps that could lead to the vehicles catching fire.
The recall was first issued in October last year but was resent today by the ACCC.
"Certain affected vehicles may contain a potentially faulty secondary air pump relay," a product recall from the ACCC read.
"If the relay is faulty, the secondary air pump is powered continuously and may overheat, posing a fire risk."
The car models which could be impacted by the fault are the Liberty GT (model years 2007-2009), the Subaru Impreza WRX and STI (model years 2009-2014) and the Subaru Forester XT (model years 2009-2012).
Car Advice reports 22,726 vehicles are subject to the recall notice.
