Popular Gold Coast beach closed after shark sighting

A BUSY Gold Coast beach has been closed after a shark was sighted this morning.

Surf Life Saving Queensland have shut Currumbin Beach after the shark was spotted by the patrolling Westpac Rescue Helicopter about 10.50am.

The shark was sighted 200m from shore.

They have advised beachgoers to stay out of the water until further notice.
