CLOSED: Toowoomba fried chicken restaurant shuts

2Birds has closed.

A YEAR after it opened, Walton Stores' 2Birds appears to have closed.

Residents will have noticed the lack of trade at 2Birds recently, with the fried chicken restaurant closing  its doors for the past couple of weeks.

2Birds opened up in September 2016 and was the brainchild of Sunshine Coast foodie duo Scott Hoskins and Tony Kelly.

The pair also opened Junk and Hello Harry earlier in 2016, both of which had been hugely successful, though it appears that 2Birds' run in the precinct has come to an end.

2Birds had initially billed itself as a fried chicken speciality restaurant offering a range of ribs, wings, sandwiches and mac and cheese, but the competitive Toowoomba food scene appears to have taken another big name down.

While chocolate parlour The Moose prepares to open next week, rumours are circulating about what will replace 2Birds.

One of the front-runners to take its place is a German-themed beer garden.

2Birds in Walton Stores is a different restaurant to Two Birds Catering and Cafe on Duggan St, which is still running after 15 years.
