Praise for Reds from Cheetahs skipper

CHEETAHS captain Adriaan Strauss believes the Reds are ready to give the Sharks and Lions a few frights on their two-game mini tour of South Africa, starting against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday night.

The Reds were brilliant in patches, but scrappy at other times in their topsy-turvy 43-33 win over the Cheetahs at Suncorp Stadium last Friday night.

Strauss said the Queenslanders' up-tempo attack made them a difficult side to play.

"They (the Reds) are a quality side and they played some great rugby. The Sharks are also very good this year and on the day anything can happen," he said. "I think their (Reds) defence was very good, but they're also very quick on the ball and it slows your rucks down."

Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske went even further, saying there was no reason the Reds could not push for another title.

Reds five-eighth Quade Cooper said he would encourage the younger members of his backline to keep up their attack in South Africa, despite coughing up a number of errors against the Cheetahs.

Chris Feauai-Sautia (pictured), 20, brought in as a replacement for Ben Tapuai, scored two tries, and fullback Aidan Toua also showed some nice touches, but made a few errors.

"There are times throughout the season where we're definitely going to have to pull back a bit, but we definitely don't want to be conservative," Cooper said.
