Pregnant mum had "meth" and loose needles at home

A PREGNANT woman admitted to having methylamphetamine and uncapped syringes in the house she shared with her one-year-old daughter, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

Police went to the Harristown home of Jessica Lee Church on January 14 on the report of a burglary at another home in Toowoomba earlier that day.

Police prosecutor Leea Trewin told the court neighbours had photographed a group of people who had entered that home while the occupants were away on holiday.

Senior Constable Trewin said police believed Church had previously lived at that home and had a key.

The group which included Church, 23, and Kyle Scott Joyce, 22, had taken items including three cameras, an Apple iPhone, X-box console, video games, liquor and jewellery, she said.

The stolen items were found by police during the search of Church's home along with 14 clip seal bags containing residue of crystals which she admitted was methylamphetamine and a number of used syringes.

Church and Joyce pleaded guilty to burglary, possessing dangerous drugs, failing to properly dispose of syringes and possessing a suspected stolen Mastercard.

Joyce had his sentence adjourned to May 5 when a breach of probation order will also be dealt with.

Acting Magistrate Roger Stark noted Church had some previous offences of dishonesty.

"It is concerning you have a one-year-old child in the house and you're using needles," he said.

Church was placed on 18 months probation to include random drug testing.
