Prisoners still doubling up in cells at M'boro jail
PRISONERS are still being made to double-up in cells at the Maryborough Correctional Centre.
On Friday there were 534 prisoners in custody.
The centre has a built bed capacity of 516.
A Queensland Corrective Services spokesman said prisoner numbers are driven by a variety of factors including crime rates, sentencing practices, Parole Board decision-making, and parole breaches.
"All Queensland prisons have the ability to employ a 'surge capacity' strategy," he said.
