Pub formerly known as 'Ettamogah' still has no name

BEERS are still being pulled and people continue to flock into what is becoming known as the Sunshine Coast's iconic pub with no name.

And it could be months before the much loved pub at Aussie World, originally known as the Ettamogah Pub, officially gets a new name.

Owners Timevale Pty Ltd handed in their licensing agreement to use the Ettamogah name last September amidst plans to build a bigger and better facility.

This move sparked Ettamogah intellectual property owner Leigh O'Brien to demand the pub "close its doors immediately", claiming he owned the intellectual property of the design of the whole building.

But Aussie World manager David Thompson said they were going through "due process" and were working with "architects and designs" to finalise a new plan for the building.

He said, when finished, it would "no longer resemble the Ettamogah Pub".

The renaming of the pub would take place only after the design plans had been finalised.

"You can be sure it will be an iconic and landmark tourist attraction," Mr Thompson said.

"Business has been excellent.

"We are still open, doing huge lunches and it is still a great meeting place."

Meanwhile, Aussie World is busy preparing for two new rides, a children's rollercoaster and a walk-through ride to open in the next two months.

Mr O'Brien could not be reached for comment.
