Put your cash on me: Senior

PETER Senior does not like to give himself a rap, but says everyone would be well advised to put their money on him to go back-to-back at the Australian PGA Championship.

In rain-soaked conditions and at the tender age of 51, Senior last year caused one of the biggest boilovers in the tournament's history to lift the Joe Kirkwood Cup despite being a $150 outsider with the bookies.

He has kicked on since then, winning $1.4 million on this year's US Champion Tour and registering 12 top-10 finishes.

He said the Hyatt Regency Coolum course suited his game and he had a realistic chance of repeating his heroics of 12 months ago.

"The way I am playing at the moment, I have told my friends to have a little wager," he said.

"I'm driving the ball well, I have had a lot of good iron shots and it just comes down to how well I putt this week.

"As I said earlier, it is a course that really suits me.

"I have always played reasonably well around here, so as I said it all comes down to the putting."

Senior was paying $51 with TAB Sportsbet last night.

Greg Norman, British Open champion Darren Clarke and Scott are expected to pull a big gallery when they hit the course early this morning.

Local hope Steven Bowditch tees off at 11.30am.
