Qld treasurer has given 'no thought' to being Premier

LABOR treasurer Curtis Pitt has not ruled out new taxes if elected, while LNP treasurer said he has not thought about being Premier.

Speaking to 4BC radio in Brisbane this morning Mr Pitt said the Labor party would not be increasing existing taxes and charges, but would not say if new taxes would be implemented.

Mr Pitt said the Labor party would be releasing its economic policy later in the campaign and would not go into details about what the plan would entail.

"Labor has a plan, we've been locked and loaded with a plan and we'll be releasing it to Queenslanders," he said.

Mr Pitt reconfirmed a Labor government would not be privatising assets - a policy the LNP is taking to the election.

LNP treasurer Tim Nicholls, speaking to 4BC before Mr Pitt, said voters needed to know Labor's plan.

Mr Nicholls said he had not thought about the possibility of being premier if Campbell Newman lost his seat.

"Tim Nicholls is working hard to remain the treasurer of Queensland," Mr Nicholls said.

Mr Nicholls said he was concerned about unemployment across the state - an issue the Labor Party has taken advantage of throughout the campaign.
