THEY may be too tiny for a bed but the quilts of love still hold the maximum amount of love.
Quilts of love are handmade quilts sewn and given to parents who have had stillborn, neonatal death and premature babies.
Emerald Patchwork and Quilters group donated 20 handmade quilts to the Emerald Hospital after asked by a midwife from there.
Midwife Gayle Rafferty introduced the idea of quilts of love at the Emerald Hospital and sent out a letter to the Emerald Patchwork and Quilters Group asking for assistance from members with sewing ability.
“I have seen and dealt with many families of premature and sick babies who have died,” Gayle said.
“They were given a quilt and were very grateful for these as it helped them with their grieving journey by giving them something tangible that was part of the memory of their baby.
“I would like to see the families of Emerald and surrounding districts have the same opportunity to have something truly beautiful by way of this caring gift.”
