Rabbitohs hang tough over Tigers

BLUFF Rabbitohs were convincing 40-22 winners over Emerald Tigers in Emerald at the weekend.

In one of their best defensive efforts of the season the Rabbitohs smothered the Tigers’ attack for most of the match.

Good yardage was made by Bluff winger Chris McKay to score under the posts.

Tigers rebounded in the second half with quick tries to Mitch Wynn and Clayton Goldsworthy.

Bluff might have posted more points if not for the try-saving defence efforts by Tigers half David Brice.

Tigers coach Phil Rooney was up-front about the reason for his side’s loss.

“Our combinations were just not there,” he said.

“Our defence worked really well in the last 15 minutes but we’re not starting well.”
