RACQ denies Emerald flood claims

THE RACQ has admitted to denying 64 flood claims in the Emerald region.

In its submission to the floods commission, the diversified motoring body said the claims were rejected because, “the rain that caused the flooding to those properties occurred more than 24-hours prior to the flooding and the event does not meet the definition of flash-flood and stormwater run-off”.

As of May 6, the RACQ had no outstanding claims in the region.

Yesterday, the RACQ Foundation announced it would give $1.7 million to boost flood and cyclone ravaged communities.

More than 20 grassroots community and sporting organisations across Queensland will receive vital funding of up to $200,000 each through the first round of donations.
