Raids across Southern Downs net $50,000 worth of drugs

POLICE on the Southern Downs have netted a drug haul worth more than $50,000 in raids over the past two days.

Fourteen officers from Inglewood, Texas and Millmerran, along with members from the Goondiwindi and Stanthorpe Criminal Investigation Branches, simultaneously raided properties in Inglewood, Millmerran and Texas.

They seized large amounts of marijuana and amphetamines.

Officer in charge of Inglewood Police Station, Sergeant Tim Hoffman said 1.5kg of marijuana and 30g of amphetamine was seized.

"We have arrested 10 persons on approximately 40 charges relating to the supply of dangerous drugs, production of dangerous drugs and possession of dangerous drugs," he said.

"We're certainly happy with the outcomes today, drugs are a scourge on our society, and it takes a real toll in small communities such as these.

"The efforts of the officers here have made a big effect on the supply of drugs throughout this region."
