THIEVES have left a trail of destruction following an attempted ram raid on a Wilsonton business on Saturday night.

Gardner Court business DNA Motorcycles was the target of the brazen break-in attempt when a Holden Colorado ute was used to back through the shop's front window about 9.30pm.

Despite smashing a large glass panel, the thieves failed to get inside the building, escaping in a getaway car before police could arrive at the scene.

Business owner Amy Plant said she and her husband, Dennis, were both shocked when alerted to the break-in attempt.

"It is a really low act," Ms Plant said.

"Fortunately the thieves failed to take anything but still the damage they have done is bad enough.

"We have been here for just under seven years and this is the first time anything like this has happened."

Toowoomba police confirmed the ute involved in the ram raid was stolen from a Harristown address on Saturday morning

The dog squad attended the scene on Saturday night as police commenced their investigations .

Ms Plant said while nothing was stolen, the incident was still hard to comprehend.

"Thanks to our security bars, the only damage done was smashed glass and a bent bollard," she said.

"Nevertheless it will still cost us time and money to get things fixed.

"Dennis has spent much of Sunday at the store making sure no one can get in now the window is smashed."

Toowoomba police said investigations were continuing.
