'All you can eat' Pizza Hut lives on, as if it's the 90s

THE only Pizza Hut dine-in store still serving "All You Can Eat" pizza between Brisbane and Townsville has no plans to dump the iconic meal deal, which parents will remember from their own childhoods.

The Gympie store, which has retained its classic Pizza Hut store architecture could become a destination for out-of-towners now deprived of the chain's dine-in stores, which also feature pasta, dessert and salad bars.

It has sat on the southbound side of the Bruce Highway since 1992.

Despite its much larger population, the Sunshine Coast to the south has lost all its Pizza Hut buffets.

Earlier this year, fears were raised that Gympie may lose its classic Pizza Hut store as rumours swirled that the store would be refurbished and kill the dine-in part of the restaurant.

On Tuesday, the chain confirmed it has "no plans to close the Pizza Hut Gympie restaurant or to end All You Can Eat".

Only five of the classic stores remain in Queensland, with three of those either south or west of Brisbane.

The only dine-in restaurant north of Brisbane is in the Townsville suburb of Kirwan, about 1100km north of the Gympie store.

Toowoomba in the state's south-west is also one of the few locations outside of Brisbane with one of the nostalgia-tinged restaurants.
