Final council rate notice mailed

RATEPAYERS with properties in the Central Highlands will soon receive their final quarterly rates notice for this financial year.

Included is a charge for water consumption over the past six months. Ratepayers who applied for the $50 water rebate will see this has been calculated into their water charges.

Ratepayers will have recently received their new property valuations in the mail. These will be used to calculate rates for the next financial year.

“Council has begun the very complex task of setting its budget,” said Mayor Peter Maguire. “As I have said previously, we are putting the new valuations into our financial systems to run the models and will analyse this information carefully before setting the rates and budget.

The last day to pay and receive the 15% discount on the fourth-quarter rates is Friday, June 17.

Payments may be made at any of the council’s customer service centres across the region, or Australia Post. Any inquiries may be referred to the rates officer on 1300 242 686.
