Central Queensland reps take to the wicket

THE dust has settled from the Queensland Junior Championships in December with the Central Queensland junior representative under-13 side taking home two wins and three losses.

Central Highlands junior cricketers Jed Moriarty from Clermont, Blackwater's Thomas McKenzie and Tom Lewis and Jordan Laffer from Emerald played pivotal roles in the U13 side.

Thomas's dad, Ken McKenzie, said the boys did well despite the hot conditions of Charters Towers.

"Jordan Laffer was the opening pace bowler and he bowled really well.

He got seven wickets for the tournament. Thomas McKenzie, a leg spin bowler, got six wickets from the tournament," he said.

"Jed Moriarty - he was wicketkeeper and did a really fantastic job in the heat and also batted well.

"Tom Lewis only played two games, but unfortunately succumbed to a knee injury."

In other central Queensland results, the U15 side won two of its five matches, the U12 side had one win while the U14 and U16 were without a win.
