Resident springs burglar climbing through kitchen window

A BURGLAR'S clumsy attempt to enter a Mackay home was foiled when a resident happened across the man climbing through their kitchen window, said Mackay Police.

Senior Constable Steve Smith said the incident happened at 9.30pm on July 30, but was unfortunately not reported to police until recently.

"A burglar climbing through a kitchen window at a unit in Wellington Street was disturbed by the resident. Nothing was stolen," he said.

"Upon being found, he quickly ran from the unit away from the area. He is described as being male, Caucasian in appearance, late twenties or early thirties and he had curly hair.

"It is concerning to police that the burglar decided to proceed with the attempted entry despite a resident obviously still being present.

"The three day delay in reporting the incident removes any opportunity that police might have had to capture the offender after they have run from the scene."

Sen Con Smith said anyone who find themselves in a similar situation should call 000.

If you have any information about the burglary call the Mackay Police Station on (07) 4968 3444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 (referring to report number QP1601442586)
