REVEALED: Plans for new 1500-student Sunshine Coast school

PLANS for a new Sunshine Coast school hoped to compliment a major residential development have been submitted to the council.

Bli Bli Catholic College will be structured as Prep to Year 12 co-educational Catholic school for up to 1500 students and 100 staff.

Stage One plans submitted to Sunshine Coast Council last week show the campus will spread over about eight hectares of land beside Parklakes Dr.

The plans also indicate a new church and child care centre are slated for the site.

When at full capacity it is expected there will be three classes for each year level of primary school and five classes for each year level of high school.

The college is proposed to have junior and senior playing fields with additional indoor and outdoor court areas.

Bli Bli was chosen as the site to take pressure off existing Catholic colleges and provide a central location within the Sunshine Coast for new students within different catchment areas.

If approved, the college will be a part of the Parklakes 2 master planned residential community.

Brisbane Catholic Education has previously indicated it hoped the school would welcome its first students 2019.
