RIO 2016: Kookaburras kicked out of Games
HOCKEY: The Kookaburras are out of the Olympic Games after a 4-0 defeat to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals in Rio.
The loss ends the Australian men's team's run of winning a medal at six straight Games.
Graham Reid's men got off to the worst possible start, with Billy Bakker scoring after just 49 seconds for the Dutch.
The world No.2 team doubled the lead just before the half-time break when Bob de Voogd scored from close range.
Valentine Verga made it 3-0 in the third quarter before before Mink van der Weerden sealed the 4-0 success.
The Australian men are the holders of every major title in world hockey except for the Olympic crown.
