RIO 2016: OUCH! Ten times that had to hurt at the Olympics

WE marvel at the great achievements at the Olympic Games but sometimes not everything goes to plan.

Here are ten moments from the Rio Games that will make you say ouch and cringe for the poor athletes involved.

As for the last one, it's best not to watch it if you have a weak stomach.

We'll start off easy.

Germany's Kristina Vogel was coming towards the second race in the gold medal decider against Great Britain's Becky James when her saddle snapped near the finish line. It did not stop the German from taking the win or the gold but it looked pretty painful.

Keep an eye on the athlete Jeffrey Julmis nearest the camera. The 110m hurdler takes a tumble that's pretty bad.

Russian Ilia Zakharov's pride might have been hurt more than anything after this effort in the diving. He was a favourite for a medal in Rio after taking a gold in London four years ago. The 3m springboard Olympic champion got straight zeros for this epic fail and missed out on the final.

This gymnast would have felt this face plant after missing the bar with his hands in his highbar routine. That's definitely an ouch.

This is not so much an ouch but an aaah moment as New Zealand athlete Nikki Hamblin gives up her chances in the 5000m heat to help fallen American Abbey D'Agostino, who had tripped over the Kiwi.

Britain's Mark Cavendish causes chaos in the men's omnium as he appears to come down the track too soon and crashes into Korean Sanghoon Park. Park then tumbles into Australian Glenn O'Shea and Italian Elia Viviani, who both went down. Park was taken to hospital, while O'Shea and Viviani continued with the Italian going on to win gold.

Dutch rider Annemiek van Leuten was riding for gold when she crashed on a dangerous descent in the women's road race. Talk about a face plant... this one is not a good look.

Australia's javelin champion Kim Mickle's calculated risk of rushing back from a shoulder reconstruction has backfired horribly. The 31-year-old West Australian grimaced in extreme pain after her third throw in the competition and immediately left the track seeking urgent attention from medical staff.

This one is not for the faint-hearted as weightlifter Andromik Karapetyin of Armenia goes for this lift. Keep an eye on his left elbow, But maybe look through your fingers. Ouch!!!

French gymnast Samir Ait Said tries to land this vault but it all goes wrong. Another one not for the squeamish. You have been warned!!!!
