SEVEN young rodeo competitors will saddle up in New Zealand tomorrow for a rodeo experience they will never forget.

The Australian High School Rodeo Team, which comprises of five boys and two girls, will traverse the country in what has become an annual trans-Tasman challenge.

Leading from the front will be team captain Jesse Beak from Bluff and his understudy Callan Gleeson from Alpha.

For Australian manager and coach Ross Ford from Capella, the yearly pilgrimage to the misty isles is a well-worn trail.

Ford will mark his 10th year in the national coaching position this time around and is looking to extend on the Australian side’s current 6-4 lead in the New Zealand series standings.

Competition begins for the team on tomorrow afternoon at the Mataura Rodeo.
