Roland all revved up for work

FOR the past couple of months relief postie Roland Lea has woken up with a smile to the sights of downtown Emerald, while Australia Post looks for full-time local posties to take over.

“I really enjoy being able to deliver in Emerald and various other areas – that is what being a relief postie is all about,” said Roland.

“Applying for a job as a postie was quite challenging for me as I had never been on a motorcycle before.

“But after my training and qualification, I couldn’t believe what I had been missing out on.

“I truly love riding my bike and being outdoors.”

When it comes to mail delivery, Emerald is a town on most posties’ wish lists, said Roland, praising its perfect delivery conditions .

“The ground is almost completely flat, the streets are wide and the letterboxes are large,” he said.

“Being a postie certainly has its benefits; you have your weekends free, you can finish early, learn new skills and you become a more aware driver on the roads.”

You too can share in the good life of a postie, with three full-time positions available in Emerald now.

Ideally prospective candidates will have a current motorbike licence, but people with their learner’s licence are still encouraged to apply.
